The Music of Raymond Scott: Reckless Nights and Turkish Twilights

Raymond Scott’s music, some of it so well-known, is so wonderfully inventive and full of character (in the best sense of that term), that one is tempted to ask why he’s not generally better remembered. Though you won’t hear any music from his best-known association, that of the great Warner Bros. cartoons like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, what can be heard instead, from the famous opening track, “Powerhouse” onward, is a composer of idiosyncratic genius with a truly wacky sense of fun. The 16 lively tracks also include “The Toy Trumpet,” and “Manhattan Minuet.” Total Time: 60 minutes
