Oscar Peterson Plays the George Gershwin Song Book

As many songbook albums as Ella Fitzgerald recorded for Verve, pianist Oscar Peterson more than doubled that number. This generous 24-track CD contains the two Gershwin Song Book sessions that the prolific and fleet-fingered pianist made for Verve in 1952 and 1959. The earlier recording finds Oscar in the fine company of guitarist Barney Kessel and bassist Ray Brown, whilst the latter album, featuring Peterson, Mr. Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen, showcases an enduring, popular and oft-recorded unit. Total Time: 1 hour 11 minutes
