Charlie Byrd: Brazilian Byrd

This lovely 1965 Brazilian-themed album, recorded during the Bossa Nova craze, features one its best benefactors and beneficiaries, acoustic guitarist Charlie Byrd with a small orchestra performing 13 Brazilian songs, all ably arranged by Tommy Newsom (yes, of “The Tonight Show” fame). The famed Brazilian composer A.C. Jobim wrote or co-wrote all the songs, which include such classics as “Corcovado”, The Girl From Ipanema”, “Dindi”, and the jaunty opener, “Jazz ‘n’ Samba”. Total Time: 36 minutes
