American Choral Music: University of Texas Chamber Singers
This fantastic 11-track anthology brings together works from all sides of contemporary American choral music. The album opens with Vincent Persichetti’s Flower Songs, which reveals his deep commitment to the poet E. E. Cummings. Next is Charles Ives’s Psalm 90, which evokes a reminiscent feeling of congregational singing in the churches of New England. Aaron Copland’s In The Beginning rounds out the album, with its brassy fanfares calling to memory his Fanfare for the Common Man.
